July Recreation Update

Happy Fourth of July! Please join us by participating in the parade on July 4. Meet at the water park and join the best parade of the season.  If you do not want to participate you can enjoy the parade by watching as the parade travels from the water park to the flea market area.  Veterans are encouraged to ride on the float.

The activities in Sandy Pines have been in full swing.  We offer adult Zumba, Line Dancing,  and Water Aerobic classes at the Recreation Station/Pool. We also offer adult tennis and golf lessons. Thank you to the instructors who prepare and provide the great offerings for our members.  You do not need to sign up prior to participate, and can join for 1 class or every week, or as often as you are able to attend.

For the youth we are preparing for our annual lock-in for members ages 6-12. The 2019 youth lock-in date is July 19 11 pm-July 20 at 6 am. July 6 is the sign-up starting at noon at the rec station office. The cost is $10/child and first 50 to sign up will be guaranteed a spot.  Once full, registration is closed.

Another exciting time is Family Fun Day.  We have great games, food, rides, and activities planned.  We do need volunteers for this event to be a success.  We are seeking volunteers for games, food court, ticket sales, face painting, and more.  Email recreation@sandypines.com to volunteer or stop by the Rec Office for more details.  Additionally, you can view opportunities and sign up online on our Volunteer Page.

Additional volunteer opportunities: Fourth of July parade Judges, Christmas in August Judges, Fishing with Roger, *Cardboard boat races-Need event organizer and volunteers or event will be cancelled.  Halloween is July 20.  It is a fun time for all the kids in the park to dress up and collect candy.  We encourage all many members to sit on their cart and pass out candy to the kids.  Please plan to arrive to the Chapel lot by 6:00pm to pass out.  6:30 the event will start.  Thank you for supporting our events.
